I finished my Physiology lab earlier at 1600 hour, went to Clancy at 1630. Yesterday afternoon was meant to be another regular choir rehearsal session. But it wasn't. There is a new friend coming to the Basses section and he stood next to me in the last row.
My gut would agree that he is an alumni rather than a student. He wore shirt-and-tie and must have been coming from work. Later he told me that his name is Andy.
We started rehearsing some carols in parts. Every part (except Sopranos) struggles to sight read the music and the long-sentence verses at the same time, but not for Andy. He had excellent sight reading skill and sang all the verses correctly. And he had good voice too!
The truth is he is a "returning friend" rather than a new one. We chatted during the break. This smiley person has been in this choir a while ago and been singing for six or seven christmas concerts with the choir. *impressed*
Another revelation: Andy indeed is a music teacher. This fact surely explains all the geniuses he had in sight reading and singing. My friend's friend was Andy's student in some local high school not long ago. What an honour for me to stand next to such a great person.
Welcome back, mate! Hope you have a good time with the choir.
